Nic Tompkins-Hughes, BSW (Honors)

Nic Tompkins-Hughes is a social scientist/researcher/justice advocate and the creator of Trans Healthcare Access.com

Nic Tompkins-Hughes is a social science researcher, community organizer, and advocate. Nic identifies as transmasculine non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. Raised on Cape Cod, but with the support of a strong local gay straight alliance organization for queer youth, they have been fortunate to raise their two children in a gender expansive home. Nic’s lived experiences, as well as those of their trans community, have been an area of motivation and passion as they pursued education in social work, public administration, and community organizing.

Find Nic outside of the internet as a presenter and Drag King in the Boston area, bringing experience and versatility to public speaking and event appearances. Other speaking experiences have included panelist appearances at Penny Arcade Expo ('13, '14, '15, '20), First Event, as well as a content developer and presenter at the Students for Immigration Advocacy forum at Bridgewater State University ('20).

Nic graduated Magna Cum Laude with departmental honors from the Bridgewater State University School of Social Work in May 2020, receiving a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and developing the IRB approved qualitative study found within. They received a Masters in Public Administration from Northeastern University in May 2022. Nic spends their days working in Healthcare Quality Data Analytics, and is also a steering committee member for the Mass Trans Political Coalition and community organizer.
